The municipal cultural season in Bagnères-de-Bigorre opens this Friday with a musical tribute to Georges Brassens, introducing affordable ticketing, a youth-focused performance slate, and an ongoing search for a new cultural center director.
Georges Brassens Tribute Opens the Municipal Cultural Season
The cultural calendar in Bagnères-de-Bigorre kicks off this Friday evening with Les Étrangers familiers, a musical tribute dedicated to French singer-songwriter Georges Brassens. The opening performance is staged by Les Musiques à Ouïr, a Norman ensemble that has reimagined classic tracks through jazz, folk, and blues influences. Municipal organizers note that the arrangements revitalize familiar lyrics while highlighting the raw energy and lyricism of the late artist from Sète.
Colombe Sarazin, the city’s cultural manager, explained the vision behind the launch. We wanted a musical moment for the opening of the season
, Sarazin said, pointing out that the concert arrives via the department’s Escales d’Automne initiative.
According to Ladepeche, the municipal administration noted that “A fine idea does not always make a great show, but sometimes a rare alchemy turns a beautiful project into a magical, rich, and surprising moment. Les Musiques à Ouïr jointly reinvent Brassens, moving between imagination, invention, and respect.”
Transitioning Leadership and Co-Programming at the Cultural Center
Behind the scenes, the cultural center operates under a transitional management structure. Deputy Mayor for Culture Tony Puaud addressed the vacancy at the top of the institution.
This year, with the cultural center director position vacant for several months, we have a co-programming arrangement
, Puaud stated, detailing how the initial slate was selected by the former director before Sarazin took over subsequent programming with assistance from Claire Brisson.
When questioned about filling the permanent leadership role, the municipal official noted that the hiring process remains active. We have received several applications and recruitment is underway
, the elected official confirmed.

The youth program also continues to expand its reach.
