jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Golkar Party DPP General Chair Bahlil Lahadalia claims he was the one who proposed the idea to postpone the 2024 presidential election.
“Before I became General Chair of Golkar, the first person who put forward the idea to postpone the presidential election was the Minister of Investment, namely me,” said Bahlil during a press conference at the Golkar Party DPP office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Tuesday (31/12).
This also refutes the statement by PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who said that the 7th President Jokowi asked for a postponement of the presidential election until the term of office was extended to three terms.
“So, it feels a bit pretentious and looks like it, huh,” said Bahlil.
He explained that this idea arose because at that time the Indonesian economic situation was still unstable after escaping the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bahlil also received input from several groups, including investors, to postpone the presidential election while waiting for economic conditions to recover.
“If the regulations allow it to be considered, then if it is permissible the presidential election is postponed. Postponing it or making the election postponed is another matter. So, no one is asking for three terms,” said Bahlil.
He also questioned those who spread the issue that Jokowi was the one who asked the PDI Perjuangan to extend his term of office.
Bahlil said the idea arose because at that time Indonesia’s economic situation was still unstable.
