Bahrain Pledges to Enhance Environmental Security
Manama: The Speaker of the Parliament, Ahmad bin Salman Al Musallam, has reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening environmental security. Speaking at the International Parliamentary Union Conference in Dubai, organized under the U.N. and affiliated to the Supreme Court, Al Musallam emphasized the importance of addressing climate change and the role of parliaments in environmental protection.
The conference, which was attended by Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Assalih, Shura Council Member, members of parliament from various nations, and representative groups, marked the first time that climate change was a focal point of discussion. The participants also discussed the need for parliaments to play a more active role in environmental protection and intervention.
“We are dedicated to implementing programs that will allow parliaments to intervene more effectively in environmental protection,” stated Al Musallam. “With such initiatives, we hope to make significant strides in safeguarding our environment.”
