The management of the Baku International Sea Trade Port (BISTP) and the delegation of China Railways discussed the prospects for the development of the transport and logistics sector of Azerbaijan and China in Baku on Tuesday, Day.Az reports with reference to BISTP.

“The Chinese delegation visiting Baku sees opportunities for increasing cargo transportation through Azerbaijan, including along the Middle Corridor, and it was important for them to get acquainted with the technical equipment of the Baku International Sea Port and the operation of its terminals,” the statement said.

During the meeting, strategic initiatives to strengthen bilateral cooperation and multilateral interaction were discussed.

It should be noted that the BMMTP is an important link in the Middle Corridor, which has been operating for 10 years.

Over the past three years, cargo flow from China along the Middle Corridor through the Caspian Sea and further to Europe has been growing.

In 2023, 2.7 million tons of cargo passed along this route (an increase of 86% compared to 2022); in 2024, the figure may exceed 4.2 million tons.
