A memorandum of understanding was signed between Baku Metro CJSC and Metro Istanbul regarding the organizational issues of the first international conference of world metros, which will be held in Baku in 2025.
As reported by Day.Az on Friday, the document was signed by the Chairman of Baku Metro CJSC Zaur Huseynov and the General Director of Metro İstanbul Ozgur Soy.
After the signing ceremony, Chairman of Baku Metro CJSC Zaur Huseynov noted that in recent years, the fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey have reached a qualitatively new level. The interaction between the Baku Metro and the Istanbul Metro has been intensively ongoing since 2015. The main areas were the exchange of experience in the field of human resources, new technologies, technical maintenance, care and repair. The achieved successes can then be transferred to a new level with the involvement of other megacities of the world.
He said work would be done on joint plans to make this conference the most successful platform for all metros in the future.
Metro İstanbul CEO Özgür Soy said he believes in the event’s future success. He said that together, the metros of the two brotherly countries can provide a new and successful platform for metros around the world.
Ozgur Soy noted that from the point of view of the rich experience of the Baku Metro and high-quality technical maintenance, organizational issues, technological innovations applied in the Istanbul Metro, wider dissemination of the developing potential production capabilities of Azerbaijani and Turkish enterprises will be an incentive for the development of joint projects.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that this project will serve as a bridge between manufacturers and metro systems.
Then the event was presented to the media. It was noted that at the beginning of 2024, the Baku and Istanbul Metros began exchanging opinions and experiences around the proposed idea and held discussions on organizational issues. It was decided to call the event “MetroConnect”. An agreement was reached to hold the first event in Baku. After the first event, the location and date of the next conference will be discussed.
Based on the research conducted, it became clear that in this area it is necessary to jointly resolve the most important issues and problems for metro systems, discuss prospects, innovations, in particular innovative proposals.
A special place on the conference agenda will be occupied by issues of construction, assembly and repair of carriages, the latest achievements in the field of metro devices, equipment and systems, innovative technologies, the role of artificial intelligence, the main problems in repair and maintenance, including standards and safety, exchange of experience in the field of passenger satisfaction, achievements in the field of scientific research, etc.
Considering the interest of the conference not only for metros, but also for manufacturers, as well as research and educational institutions, it is planned to organize an exhibition and excursions on innovations used in the Baku metro, and other issues of importance for metros.
The conference will also feature manufacturers and experts in the field of science, education and research. Baku will create conditions for discussions, bilateral meetings, open platforms for various organizations for the benefit of all participants. The event will last two days and will consist of several discussion panels devoted to current issues.
It should be noted that the visit of the representatives of “Metro Istanbul” to Baku lasted two days. During this time, the main points of the agreement, the work done, upcoming plans and tasks were discussed.
