It must “support the freedom of speech in sport”. MPs belonging to the commission of inquiry into failures in sport have launched an online platform, called “Balance ton sport”, to collect testimonies from people who have suffered violence in this environment, they announced on Wednesday in a press release sent to Le Parisien.

“This platform is intended to support the momentum for freedom of speech and to shed light on the work of the commission of inquiry,” it is indicated in the press release from deputies Sabrina Sebaihi (Nupes) and Béatrice Bellamy (Horizons), respectively. rapporteur and president of the commission of inquiry. “The deputies sitting in the commission will be able to consult these testimonies in order to collect the words of the victims and then propose recommendations which take into account the mechanisms at work in situations of violence,” it is added. Already online, the platform is accessible at the address balancetonsport.fr.

“Structural dysfunctions”

The commission of inquiry into failures in the French sports movement was created in June at the initiative of the Ecologist group. It aims to investigate “abuses” and “structural dysfunctions” to “restore a positive image of sport”, Sabrina Sebaihi explained at the time on LCP.

The testimony of former skater Sarah Abitbol, who accuses a coach of having raped her when she was a minor, triggered a series of revelations in 2020 on sexual violence in sport. The same year, the Ministry of Sports launched a unit to identify this violence, and a national ethics committee – whose proposals are expected this fall – was launched in March on the same subject by Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.

The announcement of the launch of this platform also comes while the former coach of the French football team, Laurent Blanc, was interviewed this Wednesday by this commission. The opportunity for him to return to the controversy linked to the “quota meeting”, but also to the investigation opened for a possible concealment of acts of harassment within the French Football Federation. “We must think about finding solutions in terms of governance, to ensure that what may have happened a few years ago does not happen again, whether within the FFF or in other sports,” he said. he explained to the deputies. We are aware of things, you and I must try to correct them. When you hear a victim’s testimony, it’s always moving. The problem is, it’s already happened. How to do ? There should be warnings. »
