Doctor João Batista do Couto is suspected of causing the deaths of at least 42 patients. The man was arrested while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Caçapava, in the interior of São Paulo. João is also suspected of leaving serious consequences in another 114 patients. The doctor was indicted for intentional homicide in three investigations and had his preventive arrest ordered. His registration was suspended in Rio Grande do Sul, but at the beginning of this year, the doctor requested a new registration with the Regional Council of Medicine of São Paulo, which he was forced to give in to, as he only had a partial license restriction.
