Solar systems for roofs or balconies are becoming increasingly cheaper. The online retailer Bosswerk has not survived the price war.

The solar system dealer Bosswerk is insolvent. However, the business operations will continue in full, the Nettetal-based company announced. This was decided by the provisional insolvency administrator appointed by the Krefeld District Court. The company is to be restructured, and the 100 employees will continue to be employed.

Bosswerk sells solar systems for balconies, inverters, power storage units and other technology through its online shop. The company attributed the financial slump to the rapid price drop on the solar technology market. Bosswerk mainly sells products from other manufacturers. In 2021, according to the Federal Gazette, the company had sales of 37.2 million euros and an operating result (EBIT) of 4.3 million euros; more recent figures have not been published.

In the online shop, customers receive the usual manufacturer guarantees and other claims. Anyone who ordered before July 24th – i.e. the date of the insolvency application at the Krefeld District Court – and has not yet received the goods is out of luck. Instead of receiving the goods, they become creditors of the insolvent company. This is what insolvency law stipulates. Anyone who ordered from July 24th or does so in the future, however, has full entitlement to the goods.
