Police spokespersons
The Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir decided today (Sunday) to appoint Chief of Staff Kobi Yacovi to the position of Security Secretary, on the recommendation of the Chief Commissioner Rabbi Kobi Shabtai.
Tanz Kobi Yacovi, 49 years old, an officer in the Jerusalem Police, married to Tali and father of four, lives in Jerusalem. Has a bachelor’s degree in humanities and social sciences with a specialization in criminology and graduated with a master’s degree in criminology with honors at the Hebrew University.
In recent years, he has served in several positions in the police, including the position of deputy security secretary, commander of the Moriah station and commander of Merhav Zion.
As a young officer, Yacovi was chosen as the outstanding president of the country and in the last year he received the exemplary decoration for saving the lives of the mentally exhausted in the fire in the Jerusalem mountains with great ferocity.
Yaakovi is known to the public mainly due to his role as the commander of the police forces in the demonstrations in Balfour against Prime Minister Netanyahu.
