The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster off the Green Bay Packers practice squad on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, amid a severe quarterback injury crisis following a Week 8 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
The Baltimore Ravens face a sudden roster emergency at quarterback ahead of a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Two-time MVP starter Lamar Jackson sustained a thumb injury on the team’s first offensive play in Week 8 that requires surgery and places him on injured reserve, while backup Tyler Huntley suffered a toe injury during the game. With third-string rookie Joe Fagnano also managing an ankle injury, Baltimore moved aggressively on Tuesday to fortify the position.

Kedon Slovis Arrives from Green Bay
The Ravens signed Kedon Slovis to their 53-man roster directly off the Green Bay Packers practice squad, as reported by CBS Sports. Slovis, a 25-year-old quarterback who played college football at USC, Pittsburgh, and BYU, joined Green Bay’s practice squad on September 1, 2026. He brings limited NFL regular-season experience, having appeared in two games last season for the Arizona Cardinals.

. Slovis also worked under Ravens wide receivers coach Keary Colbert during his freshman season at USC in 2019, establishing familiarity with members of the coaching staff. During his final college season in 2023, he passed for 1,716 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games. Across his college career, Slovis threw for 11,689 yards and 80 touchdowns, with 39 interceptions. Despite his college production, Slovis went undrafted in 2024. He played for Desert Mountain High School in Arizona, where his offensive coordinator was Super Bowl champion, former NFL MVP and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner. Slovis wound up playing for three different colleges.

Austin Reed Returns to the Baltimore Practice Squad
Before adding Slovis to the active roster, Baltimore brought back Austin Reed to the practice squad on Monday, November 2, 2026. The Ravens waived Reed as part of roster cuts at the end of August, and he had remained unsigned by another NFL team before Baltimore brought him back on Nov. 2. Following his release in late August, Reed played in the UFL as the starter for the Dallas Renegades, leading the spring league with 309 pass attempts and 21 touchdowns while throwing for 1,923 yards over 10 games. While Reed would finish the 2026 UFL season throwing for 1923 yards, and a league record 21 passing touchdowns, the former WKU QB would miss out on a possible MVP honor, as well as a chance at a UFL championship. Reed now rejoins Declan Doyle who now serves as the Ravens Offensive Coordinator, after the pair spent time in Chicago together.
As Joe Fagnano Fights Through Injury for Week 9
He was limited in Monday’s walkthrough due to an ankle injury. Ravens head coach Jesse Minter told reporters that Joe Fagnano is dealing with some things physically but pointed out that the 2026 undrafted free agent could end up suiting up Thursday, via Jeff Zrebiec. If Fagnano isn’t good to go, though, Austin Reed will get the starting nod.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter addressed Fagnano’s status during his Monday media session, stating, To Joe’s credit, he’s kind of fighting through a couple things he’s dealing with, but expect him to have a chance to play on Thursday,
as reported by Diario AS. One reporter asked Fagnano after Week 8 if he was healthy enough to face the Jaguars later in the week. “I think so,” he said.
Thursday Night Football Showdown in Jacksonville
With Fagnano, Reed, and Slovis representing the available quarterback options — a trio combining for three career NFL regular-season appearances — Baltimore faces a compressed preparation window with barely 48 hours until kickoff against Jacksonville’s defense. The Ravens also brought in 2024 UFL MVP Adrian Martinez for a workout, according to The Athletic.
