Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the rise in the cost of internet service and related electronic devices is a hindrance in bringing digital services everywhere.

Bhati Airtel, the country’s 2nd largest telecom company, has increased the price of its monthly minimum plan of Rs 155 in 8 telecom circles including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar by 57 percent. In this case, it is noteworthy that the Union Ministry has said this.

Regarding this, the Union Ministry said, ‘The price volatility of internet services and electronic devices for them is a major obstacle in digitization. The Union IT Ministry will approach the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to examine whether Airtel’s rate hike will have any impact in the short or long term. The Russia-Ukraine war is driving internet service charges around the world. The Minister said that it is necessary to investigate this matter.

200 MB data per month, Rs. Airtel has also stopped the Rs.99 plan which was offering calls at 2.5 paise.

The company has launched a Rs 155 plan that includes free calls, 1GB data and 300 SMS in Haryana and Odisha.
