Banco BPM is the main sponsor of the Wondy Award for resilient literature for the second consecutive year

The Prize, now in its fourth edition, will end next Tuesday 5 October at 8.45 pm at the Manzoni theater in Milan with the awarding of the winner. The evening is organized by the Wondy Sono Io Association, created by Alessandro Milan with a group of friends, with the aim of continuing the human and intellectual legacy left by his wife Francesca, a great book lover, who with her story has to teach women and men how difficulties of various kinds can – and should – be faced in life, possibly with a smile.

The evening, conducted as last year by Paolo Kessisoglu, who in addition to the finalists foresees the participation of numerous illustrious guests, will be inaugurated by Maestro Ramin Bahrami, of Iranian origin, one of the greatest interpreters of Bach in the world, who with music brings around the world a personal life story that perfectly embodies resilience. The Maestro will be welcomed by Umberto Ambrosoli, president of the Prize jury. On stage, various personalities from culture and entertainment will alternate, including Cristina Parodi and, in dialogue with Luca Dini, Luca Lo Presti, president of Pangea Onlus, who will bear his testimony on the activities of the Foundation for Afghanistan. The actors Ambra Angiolini, Euridice Axen, Alessio Boni, Cristiana Capotondi and Chiara Francini will also take the stage, who will be entrusted with the reading of the extracts of the six finalist works.

The technical jury, which will decide the winner and which is designated annually from a group of journalists, academics, writers and personalities from the world of culture and communication, is chaired by Umberto Ambrosoli, President of the BPM Foundation and of Banca Aletti, and composed of Caterina Bonvicini, Luca Dini, Chiara Fenoglio, Alessia Gazzola, Loredana Lipperini, Emanuele Nenna, Andrea Pomella, Alessandro Robecchi and Gianni Turchetta.

Alongside the prize awarded by the technical jury, there will be one decreed by a Popular Jury, which has been able to express their preferences in recent months via the Award’s Facebook channel. The Wondy Award for resilient literature was born in 2018 in memory of the journalist and writer Francesca Del Rosso (1974 – 2016), known by the nickname Wondy which gives the title to the book she wrote “Wondy – or how to become a superhero to heal from cancer (Rizzoli, 2014) ”in which he talked about his fight against the disease with irony and courage.

Banco BPM has chosen to support the Wondy Award in the wake of a tradition that sees it particularly attentive to the enhancement of socio-cultural initiatives, as well as to issues such as inclusiveness, sustainability and proximity to its communities of reference. The essence of the Award, which aims to promote and spread the culture of resilience, is perfectly combined with the Group’s mission, where development, involvement and well-being of people coexist. The collaboration in this project allows us to reaffirm the combination of efficiency and result to the enhancement of people, starting with the creation of an inclusive corporate culture.

“I very gladly accepted to preside over the technical jury for this edition of the PremioWondy” – declares Umberto Ambrosoli, President of Banca Aletti and of the BPM Foundation – “the capacity for resilience, which is the central and recurring theme of the Award, is a gift that it can help each of us to face the events that life places before us in the best possible way. Our Group has decided to support the Award for the second consecutive year precisely because it believes in the value of resilience and in the opportunities that arise from it “.
