Banco Santander launches ‘Finance for Mortals inclusive edition’

Banco Santander, together with SANFI, from the UCEIF Foundation, and Plena Inclusion, presented this past Monday, November 27, their new initiative ‘Finance for Mortals, inclusive edition’, a financial education program focused on people with intellectual disabilities.

The ‘Finance for Mortals inclusive edition’ program was presented this past Monday in a live event at the headquarters of Santander Spain, in Madrid, aimed at third sector organizations that work with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

In the words of Marta Aisa, Director of Responsible Banking and Sustainability at Santander Spain, “For us, financial education is part of the key pillars for inclusion and this new program is one more step to bring the world of economics and finance closer. to all the people. We are convinced that learning all these concepts is essential for this group, helping them acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to become well-informed citizens prepared to manage and consume in a more responsible way.”

The workshops of this new initiative Santander Bank They have been designed with the advice of experts from Plena Inclusion under the title ‘Finances that are easy to understand’, and will be divided into two sessions. In the first, five topics will be discussed: ‘definition of Finance and why we are interested in it’, ‘Money’, ‘Bank accounts’, ‘Banking products’ and ‘Customer rights and obligations’.

The second part will study aspects such as digital banking and its management, or cybersecurity and good practices.

The Banco Santander trainers who will teach the workshops have specific training, focused on providing practical advice to deal with different topics and connect effectively with students.

Santander Bank has been working with Plena Inclusion since 2018 on different social inclusion actions, among others, in the development of two ‘Finances for Mortals’ guides for people with comprehension difficulties, developed with the easy-to-read method.

After the success of Finances for Mortals -Justicia Educativa, launched in 2021, Finances for Mortals Senior edition, launched in 2022, and Finances for Mortals Junior edition this year, ‘Finances for Mortals inclusive edition’ joins the Finances for Mortals program that Santander Bank has been developing in Spain for more than 10 years together with Santander Financial Institute (SANFI), of the UCEIF Foundation. In 2022 alone, Finances for Mortals provided basic financial education to more than 82,500 people, and had more than 370 volunteer trainers from Banco Santander.

Furthermore, and on the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities, the entity chaired by Ana Botín This past Monday, it began a program of activities that seeks to raise awareness among all its employees about the importance of inclusion and the value of diversity for companies.

This initiative ranges from live dialogues with the actors Jesús Lago and Ángel Medina, protagonists of the film Campeones, to exhibitions and exhibitions of artists with disabilities, a talk with the presenter Ángel Martín, with the presentation and signing of his second book ‘“Behind from noise: Everything I learned to completely remake myself and maintain my sanity”, to solidarity markets throughout the week, with the help of associations such as Bobath, Down Madrid, Fundación Nadie Solo and Prodis.
