San Salvador. The Minister of Justice, Gustavo Villatoro, reported that a gang of assailants whose members pretended to be from the Police, has been dismantled through an investigation process that has culminated in the arrest of 19 people.

“In this strong State, no one is going to escape Justice. We will not have clemency against gang members or thieves,” the official stated on his social networks and added: “We continue working to impact the structures of organized crime and know that we are going to make sure that they pay with decades in prison for their actions.”

After the long investigation, in recent days the authorities carried out “Operation Uber” against the organization called “El Seco”, linked to 42 assaults committed in Santa Ana, Chalatenango, Cuscatlán, Cabañas, La Libertad, Sonsonate and San Salvador.

Villatoro said that the gang’s victims were profiled as users of banking agencies, legal offices and merchants, from whom they stole amounts ranging from $1,000 to $70,000, using firearms, police and private clothing.

Those now detained will be prosecuted for the following charges: Aggravated Homicide, Aggravated Robbery, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, Disclosure of the Image or Revelation of Data of Protected Persons and Illicit Groups. In the arrest procedure, the Police seized a vehicle, a telephone, a CPU, a laptop, a USB memory, a sheet with information on the accused and an administrative file.
