MERANO. They knew where to go, how to act. It seems clear above all from the stolen goods: they got away without fail. They took away about fifteen laptops. It happened over the weekend at the Alperia headquarters, in via Laurin, near the roundabout where the tunnel coming from MeBo emerges.
Targeted shot.
They were organized and knew where to aim, this is what we can deduce from what we were able to learn. Because the thieves apparently grabbed the precious equipment, which is probably the easiest to place on illicit markets.
From the front door.
The criminals entered through the main door, from the street, at the intersection of via Laurin and via IV Novembre. Inside the building they moved knowing the situation, finding the right keys to open the right doors. It is deduced that the attack was planned out, and therefore it was not an improvised raid. Also because the stolen material cannot be hidden in a pocket, and a safe way out was needed.
The episode.
The theft occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday. The affected area, that of the Alperia headquarters in Piazzale Prader near the station, where traffic is intense during the day, the
at night it is almost deserted. The surveillance patrol did not notice any particular signs during the checks. The choice of the moment to enter the building may not have been accidental: the offices are closed at the weekend, the thieves may have thought they could enjoy an advantage compared to the moment in which the theft was discovered and reported, and therefore from the beginning of the investigations which involved the scientific police who tracked down the perpetrators of the break-in. From the video footage it would seem difficult to identify the perpetrators of the theft, but the fact remains that, considering the methods, it was not carried out by a single individual. The introduction of thieves into an institutional premises and the theft of equipment worth several thousand euros remains confirmed.
The loot.
How much is the stolen property worth? The figure is estimated at around 10-12 thousand euros. Not a lot of loot, therefore, especially to set up a theft of this kind. As for the data contained in the laptops, they would all be encrypted.
