Bangalore: The new captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team Royal Challengers Bangalore will be announced tomorrow. The announcement will be made at a special function in Bengaluru at 12 noon. The ceremony will also see the release of this season’s new jersey. It is expected that Virat Kohli will announce the new captain.
Former South African captain Faf Duplessis has been tipped to be the new captain of CBA. The names of Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell and former Kolkata captain Dinesh Karthik are also under consideration. The RCB initially considered Maxwell, who has led the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, to the captaincy, but Maxwell’s inability to play in the opening matches may have backfired. Maxwell will miss the first games of the season in connection with the wedding.
If the Indian captain is considered for the captaincy like other teams, then Dinesh Karthik will be the captain. Karthik, however, did not have a good record as captain. However, RCB officials did not accept Virat Kohli’s resignation, according to some international media reports.
Kohli has stepped down as captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team following the announcement that he will step down as captain of the Indian team after the T20 World Cup. The RCB retained Kohli for Rs 15 crore before the IPL mega star auction. The IPL starts on the 26th of this month.
