Bangkok and Hua Hin are taking a proactive approach to promoting fitness and healthy living by inviting residents to join Zumba dance classes. The aim is to reduce belly fat and prevent diseases associated with a sedentary lifestyle.

On July 31, 2023, the Mayor of Hua Hin City, Mr. Nopphon Wuthikul, announced the opening ceremony of the exercise promotion program, which includes Zumba dance sessions. The program received support from the Health Security Fund and aims to encourage exercise through fun and energetic dance routines.

During the event, participants of all ages took part in Zumba activities held at the Golden Sea Hotel meeting room in Hua Hin. Before the dancing commenced, participants underwent health checks, including weight, height, waist circumference, blood pressure, and blood sugar measurements.

The Mayor highlighted the increasing risks of diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease due to a lack of exercise and varied diet choices. He emphasized the project’s focus on combating overweight and obesity issues by encouraging people to engage in regular Zumba dance sessions.

Zumba dancing has gained popularity due to its ability to burn calories and tone the body. In just one hour, participants can burn between 800-1,000 calories, helping to reduce excess fat, especially in areas like the arms, hips, and thighs. Additionally, Zumba dance routines help to strengthen the abdominal and back muscles, leading to a better overall physique.

The Mayor emphasized the enjoyable nature of Zumba, comparing it to dancing at a party rather than a tedious exercise routine. The dance moves are easy to follow, making it accessible to people of all fitness levels. Furthermore, the Zumba classes are held twice a week at Suan Luang Queen and are open to the public free of charge.

By promoting Zumba dance as a fun and effective exercise, Bangkok and Hua Hin hope to encourage their residents to adopt a more active lifestyle, reduce belly fat, and prevent the onset of diseases associated with a sedentary lifestyle.]
