Bangladesh won a historic victory by beating Pakistan by 10 wickets in the Rawalpindi Test on Sunday. On Monday, however, the ICC fined both the teams. Not only this, the ICC has also deducted valuable points from the World Test Championship.

ICC fined Pakistan players 30% of match fee due to slow over rate. Also a valuable 6 points deducted from World Test Championship points. On the other hand, Bangladesh players have been fined 15 percent of the match fee. Also deducted 3 valuable points.

In the first Test, Pakistan could bowl less than 6 overs in the allotted time. On the other hand, Bangladesh reduced 3 overs within the allotted time.

ICC’s Emirates Panel Match Referee Ranjan Madugale imposed this fine on Pakistan and Bangladesh. No formal hearing was required as Pakistan captain Shan Masood and Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain calmly accepted the penalty and deduction of points.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, the match fee can be deducted at the rate of 5 percent for every over of slow over rate. On the other hand, Article 16.11.2 of the Playing Conditions of the World Test Championship states that 1 point can be deducted for every over. Accordingly, 30 percent and 6 points can be deducted from Pakistan players and 15 percent and 3 points from Bangladesh players.
