Bangladesh has reached the semi-finals of SAFF U-17 Championship due to a lot of luck. Bangladesh did not win any match in the group stage in Bhutan. Saiful Bari Titu’s men’s semi-final game was hanging in the balance after losing to India and drawing with Maldives.
The fate of Bangladesh depended on India. India beat Maldives 3-0 in the last match and a yellow card saw Bangladesh advance to the semi-finals. Even though the top four is confirmed, Bangladesh took a day’s extra time to know the opponent.
The lineup for the semi is finalized after all the other group matches are over. Bangladesh got Pakistan as opponent. India’s opponent in another semi-final is Nepal.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 5-1 in their last match yesterday. And Nepal defeated the host Bhutan 2-1. In the fight to reach the final, Bangladesh will play against Pakistan at 6 pm on September 28.
Bangladesh did not win any match in the group stage. Pakistan, on the other hand, beat Nepal 1-0 before beating Sri Lanka. And draw 3-3 with Bhutan. As a result, it can be said for sure that Bangladesh will have to face a tough challenge in the semi-finals.
