Dhaka: Bangladesh cricketer Musharraf Hussain, 40, has died of cancer. The actor was undergoing treatment at a hospital for brain cancer. Hussein was diagnosed with cancer in March 2019. The disease was cured at that time but in November 2020 he started showing symptoms again. He has been in hospital for the past few weeks.

Musharraf Hussain, popularly known as Rubel, has played five ODIs for Bangladesh. He made his debut in 2008 but later joined the national team eight years later. In 2016, he played in the ODI series against Afghanistan. The last match in international cricket was the ODI against England. At the international level, he took four wickets and scored 26 runs in five ODIs. His best performance was three wickets for 24 runs.

Musharraf Hussain has the best record in domestic cricket. He took 3305 runs and took 392 wickets in 112 matches. He has scored two centuries and 16 half-centuries. Musharraf Hussain is one of only seven Bangladeshi players to score 3,000 runs and take 300 wickets. Hussein also holds the record for being the first Indian to play in a Bangladesh Premier League final. This achievement was in the final of the 2013 edition.
