Foreign Minister Dr. Hashan Mahmud said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has made a lot of progress in empowering women in political, economic and social fields.

He said this at a day-long seminar titled ‘Empowering Future: Invest in Women Towards Smart Bangladesh’ organized by Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Center for Gender and Development Studies of Dhaka University on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Dhaka University’s Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Wednesday (March 13).

Hashan Mahmud expressed hope that Bangladesh will set an example in front of the world by empowering women at all levels including the marginal level within the next 10 years. He said that women should be empowered intellectually and economically to create a new generation with morals. They need to be made proficient in technology. In this very soon we will be able to turn Digital Bangladesh into Smart Bangladesh.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Saida Muna Tasnim, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh appointed to the United Kingdom, and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Zia Rahman.
