Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam has said that all sectors of the government are working to tackle climate change impact. Each ministry is determining their own action plan.

The minister said this while addressing a national seminar on climate tolerant aquatic and fisheries campaigning for integrated rural development in Bangladesh on Monday (July 7th).

Regarding the adverse effects of recent climate change, the local government minister said, “We have noticed adverse effects of climate change in recent years.” With increasing global warming, increase sea level height, increase salinity in coastal areas, unexpected rainfall across the country, drought, cyclone and natural disasters have had a negative impact on millions of people. Climate has influenced the life and livelihood of the risky population. Our government has started working with the help of national and international development partners to overcome these challenges.

Tajul Islam said that inclusive and integrated rural development in Bangladesh is the highest priority issue of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under his dynamic leadership, the 6th and 5th Five Year Five Year Plan made a concerted effort to eradicate poverty, improve the lives of the rural people, accelerate and sustain rural development to increase production in agriculture. I am sure that these have ensured the use of modern technology for future development in addition to making our growing workforce profitable. In the eighth five -year plan in Bangladesh, these major areas have also been added to the inclusion of these major areas, including fisheries and aquatic farming.
