The Preparatory Meeting of the 15th Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit has begun in Banjul, Gambia with the theme ‘Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development’. The delegation of Bangladesh has joined the two-day meeting of senior officials. Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen is leading the Bangladesh delegation.

On Wednesday (May 1), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Ambassador of Bangladesh in Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to OIC Dr. Javed Patwari, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria and Non-Resident High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Gambia Masudur Rahman, Director General (International Organizations) Wahida Ahmed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are participating.

The draft resolution, draft final declaration and draft Banjul declaration on Palestine and al-Quds ash-Sharif issues were finalized, which will be adopted at the preparatory meeting of foreign ministers. Issues related to Palestine will dominate the discussion in the wake of recent atrocities in Gaza.

The meeting will discuss economic, humanitarian, social, cultural and women and youth issues that can impact the Muslim Ummah. The meeting of foreign ministers of the OIC member countries will begin on Friday (May 2).
