Bangladesh strongly protested Amit Shah’s statement

The Foreign Ministry protested in a note handed over to the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Dhaka on Monday (September 23).

According to a press release of the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who recently visited Jharkhand, made very rude comments about Bangladeshi citizens. Bangladesh strongly protested his statement.

The Ministry of External Affairs, through a protest note handed over to the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Dhaka on Monday, expressed its displeasure over the speech of the Union Home Minister of India. At the same time, the Government of India has been urged to advise the political leaders to desist from such objectionable and unacceptable acts.

Such comments coming from a responsible position against the citizens of the neighboring countries undermine the spirit of mutual respect and understanding between the two friendly countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in the notification.

At an election rally in India’s eastern state of Jharkhand last Friday, Amit Shah threatened to hang Bangladeshi illegal immigrants. He said, if BJP forms the government in Jharkhand, every Bangladeshi infiltrator will be found and hanged upside down.

Amit Shah appealed to the public to help the BJP form the government in the eastern state of the country. At this time he threatened to take strict action against Bangladeshi illegal infiltrators.
