Like many countries in the world, our neighboring country Bangladesh is currently suffering from a shortage of electricity. In this situation, the country’s government has taken various measures to save electricity.

As a part of it, it has been decided to run schools and colleges only 5 days a week and 2 days off on Saturday and Sunday.

The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through video conferencing. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam informed the media about this decision after the meeting.

He said that the Ministry of Education will decide when to implement this decision. Also, from 24th (tomorrow) all government and autonomous offices will function from 8 am to 3 pm. Banks operate from 9 am to 4 pm.

Anwarul Islam said that all offices have been asked to reduce electricity consumption. It is noteworthy that the Bangladesh government has already ordered shops and commercial complexes to close at 8 pm in order to save electricity.
