New Delhi: Bangladesh has relaxed visa rules for Pakistani citizens. The need for security clearance has been done away with. This has increased concerns about India’s security. Experts say that ISI agents can easily get entry into Bangladesh. This may indicate a growing strategic and ideological alliance between Bangladesh and Pakistan. This may also impact India. Defense and strategic expert Colonel Ajay Raina (retd) spoke to India Today. He said, ‘It is now well established that regime change in Bangladesh was orchestrated by the US Deep State through Pakistan’s ISI. It should not be surprising to see the terrorists imprisoned by the previous PM not only roaming freely but also joining the ruling machinery. He further said, ‘Very soon, if their plans go well, Bangladesh will practically become East Pakistan as before. This is likely to become a threat to India.
Double threat for India
According to experts, relaxed visa rules and the apparent Pakistan-Bangladesh nexus pose a dual threat to India. First, it could facilitate greater intelligence and security cooperation between Islamabad and Dhaka with the aim of destabilizing India. Second, the North-Eastern states, especially Assam, may become hotspots for infiltration, radicalization and subversive activities. Their objective is to defame the Indian government and create internal unrest.
Security agencies on high alert
Security agencies are on high alert after the recent developments in Bangladesh. Experts believe that the growing alliance between Dhaka and Islamabad highlights a significant strategic challenge for India. Countering this emerging nexus requires a balanced approach combining diplomacy, intelligence and military preparedness.
