Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu said that Russia is a friendly country that supports the development of Bangladesh. A memorandum of understanding has been signed with the country for cooperation in food security.

The State Minister said this at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and Russia’s Agriculture Ministry’s ‘Prodintorg’ for the supply of agricultural products at the Secretariat on Sunday (March 10).

He said that not only Russia, but also India and Myanmar are in the process of signing agreements on daily necessities. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Ministry of Commerce is working on the market and expansion of the country’s exportable products.

Andrey Golvanov, general director of JSC Foreign Economic Corporation ‘Prodintorg’ on behalf of Russia and TCB chairman Brigadier General Md. on behalf of Bangladesh. Ariful Hasan signed the MoU.

Alexander Mantisky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation appointed in Dhaka, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and others were also present at this time.

It is to be noted that the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Dhaka and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh informed through a note verbale on June 22 of last year that JSC Foreign Economic Corporation ‘Prodintorg’, a joint venture company under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, sells various consumer goods in Bangladesh on GTU basis such as yellow peas, chickpeas, lentils, Will provide sunflower oil etc.
