According to estimates revealed this Wednesday by Statec, the number of salaried jobs lost due to bankruptcies will be 1,239, compared to 768 in the first quarter of 2023, representing an increase of more than 60%. “It is necessary to go back to 2011 to find similar levels of job losses in a single quarter”, highlights the statistics institute.

From January to March this year, 317 companies were declared bankrupt and 31 liquidated, according to the same analysis, which brings together the most recent data from the Ministry of Justice.

The number of liquidations, Statec also indicates, registered a sharp drop in the first quarter of 2024, being 10 times lower than in the first quarter of 2023. The organization specifies that “the number of liquidations of holding companies and fund management companies of investment has decreased, when previously they represented the majority of liquidations”.
