Banks in the first half of the year issued a record amount of car loans

In the car loan market in the first half of the year, there are several records at once. Citizens bought a record number of cars on credit – 416,000 units, which is 52% more than in the first half of 2020, and 29% higher than the record in 2019. Such data was provided to Vedomosti by the United Credit Bureau (OKB, the only bureau with Sberbank data).

Banks have updated the record for the volume of car loans issued in the first half of the year – 433 billion rubles. (+ 85% to last year). The record of the average loan amount for a car has also been broken – it has grown by 60% since 2016 and reached 1.03 million rubles by July 1. The average loan amount is growing along with the prices of cars: the average price of a new passenger car in the first five months of this year increased by 12% to 1.9 million rubles. in comparison with last year, said the representative of the analytical agency “Autostat”.

For foreign cars the average price increased by 13% to 2.24 million rubles, and for Russian cars – by 11% to 776,000 rubles.
