Banksy Creates Joy in London with New Animal Stencils
The enigmatic street artist Banksy has once again graced the streets of London with a new artwork. This time, a majestic rhinoceros can be found riding atop a car in Charlton, southeast London. This is the eighth animal stencil to appear in the city within a week.
Since last Monday, Londoners have been treated to a series of playful and thought-provoking installations by the renowned artist. A goat was spotted perched on a wall in Richmond, while two elephants peered out from boarded windows in Chelsea. In Shoreditch, three monkeys were depicted swinging playfully.
On Thursday, a howling wolf was painted on a satellite dish in Rye Lane, only to be unfortunately stolen later that day. The artist’s team confirmed the work was likely pilfered.
Throughout the week, Banksy has continued to surprise audiences with images of pelicans devouring fish, a curious cat, and even a fake piranha aquarium.
The artist’s motive behind these playful installations is clear. Pest Control Office, Banksy’s publishing house, stated that the goal is to “bring joy to people” during a time of social unrest in the UK. He also emphasizes the power of creation, highlighting the positive impact of the Office of Pest Control.
