According to sources, the threat translates to “This goes to Peso Pluma, refrain from presenting yourself on October 14 because it will be your last show due to your disrespect and loose tongue, you show up and we are going to (break you).”
The incident has raised alarm among local authorities and citizens alike, prompting intensified security measures and the potential cancellation of Peso Pluma’s upcoming concert at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana. Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, the municipal president of Tijuana, expressed concern over the glorification of crime by singers like Peso Pluma and the subsequent risks faced by concert attendees. She stated, “In the next few days, we will determine whether the concert goes ahead or not.”
Amidst growing apprehension, a 43-year-old man was arrested in possession of one of the threatening banners. Authorities are actively investigating the matter to apprehend any additional individuals involved in the creation or distribution of the alarming messages.
Peso Pluma, known for his performances in the subgenre of Mexican regional music called ‘narcocorridos,’ has previously faced scrutiny from cartels for his lyrical depictions of the drug trade.
