jpnn.comJAKARTA – Development in Papua has experienced a significant acceleration in the last decade.
One important element in this progress is the Papua Development Acceleration Master Plan (RIPPP) which was introduced in 2022, as well as local investment as a driving force for development.
Deputy for Regional Development at the Ministry of PPM/Bappenas, Tri Dewi Virgiyanti, said that RIPPP is the main foundation for building a healthy, intelligent and productive Papua with the target of increasing community welfare in an inclusive manner.
This plan is implemented through various stages of action plans involving Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds, the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).
“We have designed the development plan in Papua in several more detailed and measurable action stages. We are preparing a five-year action plan, one of which is for the 2025-2029 period which will be more detailed than the master plan,” he said in the West Merdeka Forum Dialogue 9 (FMB9) which raised the theme ’10 Years of Developing Papua with an Indonesia-Centric Approach’ online, Monday (14/10).
Previously, Tri Dewi said that Papua’s development policies had been carefully formulated in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) since 2014.
Along the way, development in Papua has not only focused on basic infrastructure, such as roads, airports and ports, but also on basic services such as education and health.
“From the beginning of President Jokowi’s administration, through the first five-year RPJMN, development from the periphery began to be emphasized, and the inequality experienced by the eastern region of Indonesia, especially Papua, became a big challenge that we tried to resolve,” he explained.
Bappenas said that RIPPP and local investment could spur development in Papua
