Barcelona beat Cádiz 2-0 this Sunday (20) in a difficult game in their debut in the league this season in their new home, the Estadio Olímpico de Montjuic, for the second round of LaLiga in which Atlético de Madrid drew 0 to 0 with Betis.

The goals by Pedri (82′) and Ferran Torres (90+3′) gave Bara their first victory this season, as they try to stay close to Real Madrid, who are leading after beating Almera 3-1 on Saturday.

Bara had clear control over Cdiz, who closed behind and looked for chances on the counterattack and long balls in search of their attackers.

“We suffered again, but we won, which was the most important thing to gain confidence,” Frenkie de Jong told Movistar+ after the game.

Bara didn’t seem to find the way to the goal until in the final stretch Pedri appeared to finish off a pass from Ilkay Gundogan (82′) on Ledesma’s exit.

The goal reassured the Catal team, who started to arrive with more danger, taking advantage of the spaces left by Cdiz, who left desperately looking for a draw.

Barcelona went even higher when Ferran Torres, who had just come on in Lamal’s place (85′), went at full speed and overcame the Cdiz goalkeeper one-on-one (90+3′).

It was the last straw for the Andalusian team against Bara, who with this victory entered the group of the top four, after the stumble in the first round away from home against Getafe.

At Betis, Atlético de Madrid were unable to go beyond a 0-0 draw with the Andalusian team, who were much more incisive than the ‘Rojiblancos’.

“We didn’t have a good first half, Betis had more possession of the ball, they didn’t let us evolve”, explained Simeone DAZN after the game.

The ‘verdiblanca’ team, commanded by a very inspired Isco, arrived with more danger in the Atltico area, which did not bother the opposing team in the first half.

The colchonero team stayed back to try the counterattack until in the second half, ‘Cholo’ Simeone’s men began to show more incisiveness.

“The second half was very good, the team tried to win the game from the beginning”, said Simeone.

Also this Sunday, Getafe lost 3-0 to Girona, who got their first win of the season with two goals from Uruguayan Cristhian Stuani (55′ and 65′) and one from Venezuelan Yangel Herrera, who opened the scoring (12′) .
