Car manufacturers are increasingly opting for the papel of ambassadors for their models. It’s a symbiotic way of helping each other and embodying what can sometimes be elusive ideas.
In some cases, the chosen person is obvious: it is the case of Leonardo DiCaprio, whose defense of the environment made him a representative of the electric Fiat 500. However, sometimes the idea is not so easy to grasp.
This is the case of the French ‘Allure’, which comes to mean a magnetic and almost irresistible attraction, which comes without effort. For Peugeot, which is making an effort to distance itself from its pedestrian generalist past in order to differentiate itself from other brands within the Stellantis Group, it is normal to choose someone with both ‘allure’ and Barbara Lennie.
Peugeot cars have become more daring because the brand wants to link itself to French ideas of sophistication, and it is natural that they do so through the cinema –or tennis tournaments, which they also sponsor–, a world where subtlety and elegance are of the utmost importance.
Lennie also comes with a traveling pedigree that makes her irresistible to be an ambassador for a vehicle like the Peugeot 408. Born in Madrid but raised in Buenos Aires, the 2014 Goya winner claims to have traveled on her own since her teens.
“So it was a very different adventure,” he tells ABC. “It was accessible and special… I have the impression that it is increasingly difficult to find places that give me absolute calm.”
«It is also true», he emphasizes, «that the memory of childhood is a place between real and invented. It has to do with your childhood fantasy and the fantasy in which you have been brought up. You have an imprint of what you have experienced when your head remembers only the part it wants. In my case it was a very beautiful world ».
The Peugeot 408 in its Allure finish starts at 33,850 euros and is the latest SUV coupé in the C segment of the brand. It shares a platform with the compact 308 and the 2008 SUV. It can be chosen with a 130 hp gasoline engine or a plug-in hybrid that develops 180 hp with up to 60 km of electric autonomy.
