The TV journalist Barbara Walters is dead, as reported by US media unanimously. She was 93 years old.

The American journalist and television presenter Barbara Walters (1929-2022) has died at the age of 93. This was confirmed by her spokeswoman Cindi Berger, as reported by several US media. Berger confirmed to the magazine “People” that Barbara Walters fell asleep peacefully in her home surrounded by her family: “She lived her life without regrets. She was a pioneer, not only for journalists, but also for all women.”

“Without Barbara Walters I would not have existed”

Walters ended her career in front of the camera in 2014. Among other things, she was known as a news presenter, for her talk show “The View” and in particular for her many interviews with stars and politicians – including Michael Jackson (1958-2009) and Vladimir Putin (70).

Talk legend Oprah Winfrey (68) said goodbye to Walters on Instagram with a photo together. She wrote: “Without Barbara Walters I would not have existed”, and no other woman that the TV audience sees on the evening and morning news, for example.

Disney boss Bob Iger (71) also confirmed Walters’ death. He called her on Twitter as a “true legend” and pioneer of journalism. Iger was not only allowed to name Walters a colleague for more than three decades, but was also good friends with her.
