Barbie Surpasses $400 Million at the Box Office Faster Than Top Gun: Maverick and Super Mario Bros Movie

Warner Bros.’ film “Barbie” continues its successful run at the box office, surpassing the $400 million mark in just 14 days. The film earned $11.8 million on Thursday, bringing its total domestic box office earnings to $406.4 million. This milestone was achieved faster than other recent releases, such as “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Super Mario Bros Movie.” The film is expected to make around $55 million in its third weekend, contributing to a strong box office marketplace for the first weekend of August.

Another Warner Bros. film, “Oppenheimer,” is also expected to perform well at the box office, potentially adding another $23 million or more to the weekend earnings. Meanwhile, the Christopher Nolan-directed film earned $5.58 million on Thursday, bringing its total earnings to $199.86 million after two weeks in theaters.

Additionally, Warner Bros. has another film, “The Meg 2: The Trench,” set to release, with expectations of earning between $20 million to $30 million. The shark sequel made $3.2 million from previews that began at 3 PM on Thursday. The first film in the series, starring Jason Statham, brought in $4 million in previews and opened with $45.4 million. Despite negative reviews from critics, the sequel is expected to appeal to mainstream audiences.

Paramount’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” saw its box office earnings rise to $15 million after two days. The animated film earned $4.87 million on Thursday, ranking third for the day.

Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” ranked fourth on Thursday, earning an estimated $1.6 million. The film has earned $33 million in its first week. In comparison, the previous “Haunted Mansion” film, starring Eddie Murphy, grossed $35.4 million in its first seven days.

Angel Studios’ “Sound of Freedom” earned $1.47 million on Thursday, bringing its four-week total to $156.4 million.

A24’s horror film “Talk to Me,” released in 2,340 theaters, earned around $1.2 million on Thursday. The film’s first week earnings reached $15.8 million, surpassing the total earnings of another A24 horror comedy, “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” which grossed $11.4 million. The film’s first seven days also exceeded the earnings of “Midsummer,” which earned $13 million and then finaled at $27.4 million.
