The first round of rematches of the quarter-final stage of the Women’s Champions League took place tonight (Wednesday), at the end of which there were two big winners: Barcelona and Arsenal.
The Catalans, who ended the first meeting against Rome with a 1:1, did not leave the Italian opponent a chance on their home court. Pridolina Rolfo jumped the people sitting in Camp Nou already after 11 minutes, in the 33rd minute Mafi Leon made sure to double the advantage, before the half time whistle Rolfo completed a double (48). Less than a minute passed in the second half and Oshoola scored the fourth for Roma, and 7 minutes later Patri Guiaro scored the fifth. Anna Maria Sarntorini managed to shrink (53) with a beautiful goal, which did not overshadow the tremendous performance of the European runner-up.
At the same time tonight, Arsenal managed to forget the 1:0 loss from the first meeting, with 0:2 at the Emirates. Frieda Ma’anon was the first to find the back of the net with a bomb into the top left corner. Stina Blackstanius hit the second goal for the Bavarians, and sent the Gunners to the next stage.
