Barcelona Open: Schwartzman remains winless in 2024

by time news

Diego Schwartzman may have entered the main draw of this year’s Barcelona Open, however the former world No8 and current No142 managed to take just 3 games from Dusan Lajovic in the 1st round, knowing the loss with 6-1, 6-2 after 67 minutes.

For the 31-year-old Argentinian, this was his 6th straight defeat in 2024 in as many matches (on the main board) with his last victory being last October in the 1st round of the tournament in Tokyo.

Schwarzman in 2023 had a record of 13-25, with his best run coming at the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai reaching the Round of 16, even beating the likes of Jiri Lehetska and Taylor Fritz, but since that tournament and then goes 1-7, having started this season 0-6.

Lajović, for his part, will face the Frenchman and No. 6 on the board, Hugo Amber, in the 2nd round.
