Only one in four hospitalized corona patients is completely cured a year after their hospitalization. This is according to a British study in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine. Women and individuals with obesity are at greater risk of experiencing permanent health problems.

The study is based on patient data from 39 National Health Service (NHS) hospitals in the United Kingdom between March 7, 2020 and April 18, 2021. Their recovery was evaluated five months and one year after hospital discharge.

The study shows that the number of fully cured patients does not change much over time. After five months, 25.5 percent appeared to have fully recovered, after a year that figure was 28.9 percent.

Women, obese people and people on ventilators have a lower chance of feeling well again a year after the date.

The most common symptoms of lung covid are fatigue, muscle aches, sleep deprivation and shortness of breath.
