“The murder of two women in Ahmedabad’s Kanpa village went unchallenged. After a week of hard work, a farm laborer and a woodcutter were found to be working in the same place.
“When there were no technical clues, we intensified the investigation on the basis of human intelligence. It was found that the farm worker, who usually finishes his bath in five minutes, took an hour to bathe on the day of the incident. When he was interrogated based on suspicion, he confessed to the crime. He killed the two women because he was not ready to have sex.”
These are the words of Assistant Inspector Singh of Ahmedabad Crime Branch. Sisodia said. How did these double murders happen? How did you get the clue?
A few weeks ago, two women were stabbed to death while cutting firewood in a farm area in Kanpa village near Ahmedabad.
Their dead bodies were recovered from the river bank.
There were no signs of human presence in the surrounding bushes. Assistant Inspector Sisodia, who investigated the incident, said that the police investigated the marks found and found that they belonged to cattle rearers.
He also said, “We brought sniffer dogs to the crime scene to see if we could find any traces. Forensic experts also came and looked. However, it was impossible to find traces based on technical analysis in the situation there. Therefore, we could not identify the dead.”

Meanwhile, Geetaben Thakur and Mangiben Thakur were reported missing from Thaboda village in Gandhinagar and Kuma village in Sasari. It turned out that they were dead.
Subsequently, the police had to rely on human intelligence to find clues in these double murder cases.
Subsequently, the police inquired about the details of where the two women had left from and at what time, from nearby villages, people who go to collect firewood in the riverbeds and people who go to graze their cattle.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police narrated what happened next.
“Two weeks later, the villagers said that the two women went to cut firewood early in the morning in the pasture land of Bulawadi village. It is said that Rohit Sunara, who was working in the farm there, objected to the cutting of wood in the area and even then the women continued to cut wood. I will allow it. In return, you have to have physical relations with me.”Gitaben, who did not agree with this, escaped from there and told the villagers, it was revealed during the investigation.
We inquired locally about Rohit Sunara. It was revealed that the man was already misbehaving with women and was thrown out of his house. Later he worked as a laborer in Rohit Lamba village. There too he was expelled from the village by the people of Awvur because he misbehaved with some women.
A relative of Rohit told us that he tried to rape his brother-in-law’s wife. It also came to light that in connection with the incident, Rohit cut off the ear of his father who scolded him,” the police officer said.
Rohit is a drug addict. Agricultural workers in Arueke said that he extorted money several times with a knife while under the influence of alcohol. Sometimes even money disputes happened.
Rohit usually takes a two to five minute bath in the underground well at the farm. He will not be more than that. But on the day of the murder, it was very cold. Even in that cold Rohit stayed inside the well for an hour.
Generally women who come to cut firewood wash their clothes in that well area. Even on the day of the murder, people saw the women washing clothes.
On the same day, a farm laborer told the police that there was a blood stain on Rohit’s shirt, and the police questioned him about it. But he got away with saying it was a stain from hunting rabbits in the Kari River.
However, there was no sign of the rabbit being killed where he said it was.
So the doubt on Rohit got stronger. Based on that, the police arrested him and Rohit confessed to his crime in the first phase of the investigation, the police officer said.

Subsequently, information related to Rohit’s confession to Ahmedabad crime branch police also came to light. Its description:
“I have intimidated many women into having sex. If a woman doesn’t listen to me, I don’t let her cut wood,” said Rohit.
Also, “I tried to have sex with my brother-in-law’s wife. When he refused, I attacked him. I was fined in the panchayat for this act. That day I cut off my father’s ear because he scolded me.”
“Once I invited Geeta Ben for sex. But he complained about it to the villagers. So I got angry and tried to scare him. I thought he would run away from there. But I killed him because he was challenging me.”
Then Mangiben Geetha saw me attack. So I killed him too. I haven’t been caught in two weeks. I wanted to run to Saurashtra as the police roamed the village. I thought I could run away after getting my 15 days salary. But I was caught before that,” Rohit is reported to have told the police.
The BBC spoke to renowned psychiatrist Dr Jyothik Bachech about this trend of forcing women into sex against their will.
“The mentality of such people is to fulfill their sexual desires at any cost. If their desires are not fulfilled, they are driven to resort to violence. They dominate the weak. This shows their courage. When impoverished women are sexually exploited, women are more likely to be blamed than men. So they remain silent. The number of such incidents increases due to neglect,” said the doctor.
“In a few villages in Gujarat, if certain castes commit a crime, the panchayat fines the wrongdoer. So in such incidents, the police do not register cases. So they don’t care about the law,” says Dr. Jyotik Bachech.
