The opening of the exhibition of a great photojournalist will be the highlight of the first day of a Lungomare di libri, starting today with several talks. At the theatre Margherita of Bari Seventy shots by Steve McCurry on the theme of reading will accompany the first edition of the review of literary meetings scheduled until Sunday between the Fortino, the Pinacoteca, Largo Vito Maurogiovanni and the Muraglia. The Municipality rehearses for a future publishing fair, the dream (not at all forbidden) of the councilor for Cultures, Ines Pierucci, who always dealt with books. Until Sunday it will be open for free, while from Monday 28 June to 25 August access will be required by booking on the website www.stevemccurryleggere.it. The busy program of meetings with writers and publishers will start at 7 pm, in the art gallery of the metropolitan city, on the Nazario Sauro seafront, with a comparison between some representatives of the network of Apulian booksellers, resilient merchants who, despite the pandemic, have able to renew itself by constantly keeping in touch with readers. A double appointment will follow (at 9 pm), again in the art gallery, where the exhibition “Reading an art” was set up with a selection of paintings on the theme.
Publishers
The first is reserved for the publishers of the region: from Antonello Bellomo of Wip to Giuseppe Goffredo of Poeisis, a reality of Alberobello that has in its catalog Italian and foreign writers attentive to Mediterranean issues, twenty-seven are present at “Lungomare di libri” thanks to the collaboration of ‘Apulian Publishers Association. The second appointment, however, reserved for authors Alfredo De Giovanni, Patrizia Gesuita, Augusto Ressa and Chicca Maralfa, the author for Les Flanuers of the noir “The secret of Mr. Willer”. The queen of the detective story Gabriella Genisi, who tonight (8.30 pm), on the Terrace of the Fortino di Sant’Antonio, tells about his creature Lolita Lobosco, the sexy commissioner protagonist of numerous novels recently transposed into a successful TV series. While the public prosecutor Emma Bonsanti, a character born from the pen of Aldo Pagano, who the public will meet immediately after, has not yet come off the paper. Many guests (almost all from Puglia) expected on Saturday and Sunday, when the book market on the Wall in via Venezia and the children’s reading village at the Fortino will also be active from 6 to 11.30 pm (from 6 pm). Among the characters expected over the weekend, the Strega Nicola Lagioia award, the economist and essayist Gianfranco Viesti and the writers Mario Desiati and Gianrico Carofiglio. A meeting on the 120 years of the Laterza publishing house with the regional councilor is also planned Massimo Bray, who will then speak for the tribute to Franco Cassano edited by Alessandro Laterza.
