Suluar: The work of converting barren lands into agricultural lands has started in Pattanam village.

All Village Agriculture Development Program has been implemented in three villages of Pattanam, Mayilambatti and Peedampally in Sulur area. The main objective of the project is to identify waste lands in these villages and convert them into arable lands.

Accordingly, a committee was formed by integrating 14 farmers in Pattanam village, who have barren lands. Horticulture Department has taken steps to convert those barren lands into cultivated lands. In collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Engineering, the work of removing thistles from barren lands has started.

Assistant Director Horticulture Department Chitra Banu, Agricultural Engineering Department Engineer Nivetha, Assistant Officer Pashupati and others visited the works. According to the officials, priority will be given to the widening of ponds, construction of roads, planting of saplings, rehabilitation of water bodies and provision of vegetable seedlings under this scheme.
