Barrier to access to Ligue 1: Saint-Etienne supporters banned from the stadium in Auxerre

by time news

There will be no small touch of green in the stands of Abbé Deschamps this Thursday in Yonne, after decision of the prefecture. This Tuesday, the local authority issued an order prohibiting the presence of Saint-Etienne supporters during the first leg of the Ligue 1 access dam. Their presence is prohibited in the enclosure but also in the surroundings of the stadium.

According to France Bleu, in its press release the prefecture of Yonne specifies that “the visitors’ stand at the Abbé-Deschamps stadium is not accessible to supporters of AS Saint-Étienne”. This decision is not a surprise in view of the situation of supporterism in France for several months. But it is even less so for AS Saint-Étienne. The Forez club has been subject to sanctions from the French football federation since the incidents that marred the meeting between Jura Sud and ASSE, on January 2 in particular.

And the prefecture to specify: “It is forbidden, on Thursday May 26 between 4 p.m. say bearer of the flag, clothing, or any distinctive sign in the colors of the Saint-Étienne club, to access the Abbé-Deschamps stadium and to drive or park on the public road, near the stadium”.

In this context, however, the match will be sold out, all the tickets for this decisive match for the historic club of Guy Roux have been sold.
