Barton Cowperthwaite announces stage 2 Glioma diagnosis and upcoming brain surgery

by time news

Tiny Pretty Things actor, Barton Cowperthwaite, revealed on Friday that he has been diagnosed with a serious medical condition. In an Instagram post, the 31-year-old shared the news alongside a photo of himself dressed in a hospital gown. He announced, “Yesterday I was diagnosed with at least a stage 2 Glioma,” and went on to explain that it is “a fairly decent sized brain tumor.” Fortunately, Cowperthwaite mentioned that the tumor is not a result of cancer originating from other parts of his body.

The actor added that the only course of treatment for his condition is brain surgery. Despite the seriousness of the situation, he expressed confidence that the doctors will be able to remove most of the tumor, allowing him to fully recover after some rehabilitation.

Additionally, Cowperthwaite shared scans of his X-rays showcasing a large white mass in his brain on his Instagram. These scans revealed the presence of a lemon-sized glioma in the right frontal lobe.

Following an outpouring of support from friends and fans, the actor and his family have set up a Go Fund Me account to help cover expenses during his recovery, as brain surgery and recovery is not only physically taxing but also financially burdensome. The funds raised will go towards supporting his family and covering any expenses that are not covered by insurance.

In an update video on Saturday, Cowperthwaite informed his fans that he has already met with medical experts to strategize for the upcoming surgery. He voiced his gratitude for the overwhelming support and love he has received, saying “The response and outpouring of support has been absolutely staggering and words have no capacity to express my gratitude.”

The actor expressed his love and appreciation for the support, stating, “the only capacity to express it is thank you so much and I love you.”

As Cowperthwaite prepares for his surgery and recovery, his fans, co-stars, and industry colleagues are rallying around him, sending messages of love and well-wishes for his successful treatment and swift recovery.
