Àlex Formento points to second coach
Àlex Formento is the number 1 candidate to serve as second coach at Básquet Girona next season. He is the coach who promoted the team to LEB Or in 2020 and a person of trust for Marc Gasol, because Formento has been by his side since the foundation of the club in 2014. This year he has been the assistant of Joan Peñarroya at Baskonia (in fact, Girona took advantage of the visit of the Basques in the last league game to pay tribute to him), and before that he had tried his luck at the Mexican Jalisco Astros and the Barça CBS women’s coaching staff. His departure from Fontajau was not what he expected (he was not offered to train at LEB Or and the team was entrusted to Carles Marco) and now he would have a second chance.
