/ Basra crude oil achieved slight weekly gains, as global oil prices recorded weekly gains due to tensions that kept prices high.

Basra Heavy crude closed its last session on Friday up $1.28 to $76.34, posting a slight weekly gain of $1.79, or 2.4%.

Basra Medium crude closed its last session up $1.28 to $79.14, and also recorded slight weekly gains of $1.59, or 2.5%.

Global oil prices posted weekly gains amid continued tensions in the Middle East after Israel rejected a proposal from the Palestinian Hamas movement for a ceasefire.

Both benchmarks are set to rise 5.7 percent each for the week.
