Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani directed to prevent personal protection from entering the match between our national team and its Omani counterpart in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Al-Eidani said in a press conference after meeting with a number of security leaders to discuss the latest preparations for the match between our national team and its Omani counterpart in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which was attended by the (INA), “The protection of officials, including the protection of the spokesman, is not allowed to enter the match stadium or be present in the presidential box. The presence of any military appearance inside the sports city is also prohibited, as was agreed upon with the commander of Basra operations in this regard and according to the instructions of the International Federation of Football Association, which must be implemented if we want to continue playing on our stadiums.”

He added that “the tasks will be distributed among the security agencies and secret elements will be deployed among the public to maintain their security and safety,” noting that “the security forces bear the greatest burden in managing the stadium and maintaining security in such important matches and forums.”

He added, “It is our duty for our national team’s match against its Omani brother to be the beginning of the launch towards the World Cup and befitting Iraq’s status.”
