Our national team resumed its training in Basra, by undergoing a training session yesterday evening, with the participation of (24) players, in preparation for facing the Kuwaiti national team next Tuesday in the third round matches (second round) of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The media coordinator of the national team, Mohammed Imad, said in a statement to the newspaper (Al-Sabah), followed by the (INA), today, Sunday: “Coach Jesus Casas, in consultation with his assistant staff, decided not to travel to Kuwait after the end of the first match against Oman in the qualifiers and to stay in Basra and undergo training sessions in the secondary stadiums affiliated with the sports city,” indicating that “the national team delegation will travel to Kuwait tomorrow, Monday, and before that there will be a session between the Football Association and the technical staff during which the travel mechanism will be determined, whether by air or by land.”

“The national team conducted two training sessions after the Oman match. The first was limited to the participation of substitute players who did not have the opportunity to participate, and the second witnessed the participation of all players except Ali Jassim and striker Ayman Hussein, who is still receiving treatment in a hospital in Kuwait, and it is almost certain that he will be absent from the stadiums for at least a month,” Imad explained. He stressed that the players are fully prepared for the Kuwait match and that ambitions are high to achieve a new positive result that will keep our national team at the top of the group’s standings.
