The Andean Chair dressed up this Thursday, July 4, 2024, to commemorate its 80th anniversary with a civic-military parade that filled the main streets of the canton with color and joy. From 9:30 am, the event began with a route that started on Avenida 4 de Julio, passing through Manuel Pinos, going up Quito, continuing along Manuel Reyes and ending at General Córdova. This emotional event brought together municipal authorities, the elected queen Doménica I, local and educational institutions, as well as the community in general.

The eightieth anniversary of the Andean Chair is a reminder of moments of joy, happiness and civility for the Chunchean community.

Mayor Frantz Joseph, in his speech, highlighted the importance of this celebration for the identity and community spirit of the canton. “This anniversary is an opportunity to remember our roots and celebrate the progress we have made together as a community. The Andean Chair is not only a symbol of our history, but also of our promising future,” he said enthusiastically.

The authorities of the district and education 06D02 Alausí – Chunchi were also present, paying tribute to the Chunchi canton. Educational units from different parishes and communities of the sector, as well as from the main district, participated in the parade, showing the fervor and commitment of the young people to their land.

The performances of the educational units were one of the highlights of the day. Among all of them, the Quitumbe and Chunchi educational units received the greatest praise for their emotional and joyful performances. Batons, bass drums, lyres and drums resounded in the air, filling the audience with rhythm and emotion.
