The new Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, affirmed tonight that the situation of the dollars must be “planned” in the midst of the reserve crisis that the country has and assured that it will maintain the segmentation of rates.
“Argentina’s course has to do with the fiscal management of our accounts and ensuring that the country has more exports, revalue our currency, generate more jobs throughout our country with a federal perspective. Release the enormous resources that our country has. That is going to be the task and that is what the President asked me to do. We are going to continue the economic program that we are going to continue, I believe in fiscal balancethat is the way”, he had said.
Minutes before, around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, President Alberto Fernández took the oath of office at the Casa Rosada. Participating in the brief act were Sergio Massa, Santiago Cafiero and Hugo Moyano, among other leaders. Vice President Cristina Kirchner did not attend. Batakis replaces Martín Guzmán, who resigned from his post on Saturday afternoon.
